Graveyard Keeper 2 Graveyard Rating
Every grave shows a number. The numbers add up. Here is what moves them.
The graveyard is the business. Its rating is the scoreboard: a skull-badged total (the demo shows "Graveyard 9" in the HUD) built from the score bubbles on every grave and decoration. Last verified: 2026-09-21 (demo build). Re-check after the 2026-09-22 launch..
How the rating adds up (demo-verified)
- Each grave has a bubble — demo graves show values like −3, 0, +3; the bubbles are per-grave, not global.
- Decorations have bubbles too — the demo shows an angel statue at +5 and lamps at −3: placement and choice matter.
- The total shows top-right — while in the graveyard, the skull badge sums your layout.
- Burial quality feeds the grave — better prepared burials support better grave scores (full burial certificate chain is launch-gated).
Raising the rating
- Fix the negatives first — removing a −3 decoration is worth as much as adding a +3 one; the demo is full of negative-bubble clutter.
- Upgrade grave materials — stone and polished parts beat wooden leftovers (see Stone Polishing tech).
- Cluster quality décor — the angel-tier pieces are the biggest verified positive bubbles in the demo.
- Re-check after burials — the rating reflects the current layout, so re-walk the yard after changes.
What the rating is for
The official positioning ties graveyard quality to the town restoration: the church and the town care about the state of your yard. How exactly rating converts into rewards is launch-gated — quest text and church interactions get verified after September 22.
FAQ
Common questions about this topic.
How does graveyard rating work in Graveyard Keeper 2?
Every grave and decoration shows a score bubble, and the bubbles sum into the rating shown with the skull badge in the graveyard HUD.
Why did my rating go down after decorating?
Some decorations carry negative bubbles — the demo shows −3 on several placeable items. Remove negatives before adding positives.
What raises the rating fastest early?
Clearing negative clutter and upgrading grave materials; both are doable in the demo's opening hours.
Does corpse quality matter?
Burial quality is part of the grave score chain; the full corpse-part system values are launch-gated until verified post-launch.
